Message from the Director Committed This is Child Protection Week. It is a really important focus for all involved with those who deal with children and teenagers that our primary concern is the welfare of these young people. At 24:7 Youth Ministry we are committed to ensuring that all young people at our youth groups find a safe place to be who they are. Engaging with the Archdiocese of Perth’s Safeguarding Project is one way of ensuring that we maintain this focus. It is important too that if there are any issues of concern regarding the well being of young people at our youth groups that our youth and parents should raise this with our youth ministers, parish Safeguarding Officers and if need be directly to our Director, Mario Borg. Let's continue to work together to build the happiest and safest youth groups possible for as many young people to be equipped to live for God full on, full time, all the time. |

Greenwood Our Sunday night youth group began with a sit-down dinner, followed by couple of different games. We did a marshmallow challenge where a marshmallow was tied to string and the other end tied to our ankle. After that we played PVC pipe one of our favourite games at youth group. Next week we will be having a guest speaker coming to talk to us about impacting the world |

Bassendean Youth Group on Friday night was an energetic and fun filled night. We were so blessed to attract 28 youth to the night. Our focus throughout the night was, as it was the fifth Friday of the month, to have a great time with our Games Night and to celebrate the end of what has been a long, wet and cold winter. One of the highlights of the night was seeing the kids act out scenes from many movies including Lion king and the Titanic! We are back on this Friday night so are looking forward to seeing even more young people at youth group!!!We are really excited at the prospect of pulling together a Youth Mass in the next few weeks so stayed tuned for what is going to be a really important event for us all. |

A great turnout for Father’s Day was so encouraging to see.We played two really fun new games and then heard a fantastic talk from Emma all about Groot and how he relates to the fruits of gentleness and kindness. Next week we will be looking at our last superhero so come and find out who it is, as well as finding out which leader will be giving the talk. Don’t forget that if you bring five friends then you get a block of chocolate! Finally, we wanted to say that we will be running a Family Quiz Night on the 16th of September!! It will be a great night of fun, games and free pizza and the whole family is invited!!! If you are interested, please contact Angela or Sebastian so that we can organise a table for you!! Morley After last week’s Amazing Race style activities being a major hit, we were very excited to test the waters to reveal this weeks Old Testament character, as it involved something to do with a fish... or a whale... or something? We began the night with our usual fellowship, having plenty of great conversations, board games galore, and an intense handball tournament in the hall. Our first big group game was a giant version of Naughts and Crosses, after being split up into pairs and then into two teams, using a set of chairs and our bodies. Obviously, the best team won, securing the bonus round worth 99 points, taking the total score to 99 vs 2. Clear winners by a mile. Our next group game took us on a journey of obedience, linking in to our theme for the night, as we brought back a crowd and childhood favourite, musical chairs. This always wins the hearts of many when this game is dusted off and presented as an entirely new game altogether. Of course, we were all winners at the end of these two fantastic rounds. Moving onto our theme for the night of fish, water and obedience, one of our youth leaders kindly explained the reason for dividing us into four groups and why we were given a ‘fishing rod’. The purpose of this beautifully creative activity, was to, as a team, retrieve 6 of the fish that were swimming in the ocean, and that each of these fish had a part of a story on the underbelly side. The first team to retrieve all 6 correct fish and parts of the story in the correct order won the glory of finding out who our next prolific character was! My gosh it was glorious, there were fish, line and sinkers flying everywhere. Once all of the groups had completed the task of retrieving said fish from the waters, they then had to come up with a story board, drawing 6 pictures in total to represent the 6 main parts of the story of Jonah and the Whale. There were some fantastic artworks to be seen, Picasso himself would have been so proud. Each group presented their masterpieces, followed by prayer and grace before a wonderfully prepared meal by our ever-supportive parents.Thank you one and all for an absolutely outstanding night, we cannot wait to do it all again this Friday night! Our next youth group will be this coming Friday, on the 7th of September. |

Nedlands Last week was great! We had 23 young people gather together for our youth group night. We had a panel with a combination of our volunteer leaders and youth - Lydia and James discussing the theme of struggles and the song from the greatest showman was “This is me”. We reflected on our self and not allowing struggles to get in the way of pursing our dreams and allowing them to be a part of who we are, growing our character. This week, we are up to “Rewrite the Stars” and being romanced by God and how it is that He loves us. |

Servite Friday afternoon at 24:7 Serve was awesome fun! We had 30 young people present and ready to learn all about what it means to take up the Shield of Faith. We started the afternoon with two games; ‘Bang’ and ‘Shield Toss’ which were both very competitive and awesome fun. Following the games we watched a trust demonstration by our Youth Ministry Interns and heard an input from one of them on the Shield of Faith in community. To finish off we spent some time in small groups talking about how we could take up the Shield of Faith in our own lives.During the week we were really busy facilitating four school retreats; Mary MacKillop’s Communion retreat, St Denis’ Confirmation retreat and two days with Servite year 8s working on the 24:7 School Ministry’s Creation retreat.24:7 Serve is next on Friday 7th September 3:30-5:30 in the Servite College Gym. We will be discussing the Sword of the Spirit, the final piece of the armour. We can’t wait to see everyone there. |

South Our youth group last week saw 42 youth join together for some epic fun with some energetic games and a great time of sharing faith. After extending a warm welcome to some new members and after our prayer and Scripture, invited some of our youth up who shared about some highlights and achievements that happened during the week. We then had a game of British Bulldogs (tag version) with the MC’s calling out variation methods of movement for fun. We got to see some pretty agile crab walkers and surprising spin dodges when crawling! We then played a game of Spokes, getting pretty competitive in their teams as they ran around their group and then tunnelled under teammates legs to be first to reach the centre! The night then moved to the talk and we were introduced to the Mass as a wedding and us being the bride. In this first session of ‘What is Our Response’, and we were invited to see our walk down the aisle to receive the Eucharist as an ‘I do’ to union with God. We then had a time in small groups to share what we thought of that imagery and how it effects our perception of God or the Mass. This week we continue to session 4 of Altaration. Come and join us to share your response! Invite friends and bring a plate to share! |
