DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

LSo much has occurred and will continue to occur over the coming days of the school holidays so there is no need to be bored at all. Check out all that has taken place thus far and check out all that is still to come!

ISTAND CAMP

Many thanks to our friends and partners in ministry, the Youth Mission Team who ran an outstanding iStand Camp over the weekend. With 50+ young people, many from across the 24:7 Youth Ministry network, a unique encounter with the face of Jesus in each other and across the other powerful features of the retreat was had by all. Thanks too, to the 24:7 YM youth ministers who accompanied the young people from across the range of our youth groups at the iStand Weekend – such a gift of friendship and companionship.

BALCATTA

What a fantastic night it was last week. As it was the last weekend of the Term plan, we had a big night playing PVC Pipe, Commando and Roaming Charades. After dinner we heard from Felicity as she shared a beautiful testimony about how in the hardest times in her life, going to Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament helped her see how much God loved her and wanted to help/heal her. NEXT WEEK IS GOING TO BE HUGE! We have a massive night full of never-seen-before games and activities! You really don't want to miss out on this night as we also might have a surprise for you all that will keep you nice and warm on this cold winter's night!

BASSENDEAN

Last Friday at Bassendean was an awesome night! With 25 young people in attendance we started with two really fun games; Balloon Stomp and Bishop’s Hat, which kicked off the night perfectly. Following the games, we heard from guest speaker Mario Borg who wrapped up our term theme of Fruits of the Spirit with a challenge for everyone to take on the power of the fruits in our own lives. He used examples of young people who have achieved amazing things through the use of the fruits as evidence and encouragement that we can all do great things. We can’t wait for our next youth group which will be a games and pizza night on the 19th of July!

FLOREAT

We had a wonderful group of energetic people who attended youth group on Sunday night. The central focus was on celebrating our one-year anniversary! We brought back many of the Floreat classics: games, music, and food! We played Islands, Balloon stomp, Commando, Handball and Mafia. We ended the night with a cake, party poppers and a lot of cookies made by one of the young people! It was a great party and we’re looking forward to the movie night next weekend and the combined Laser tag youth group event on the last Friday of the school holidays!

GREENWOOD

Last week at youth group we had 15 youth in attendance for a great night. Starting with rounds of games in Uno, Spoons and the Name Game, we had a lot of fun before the youth group used a set of praying cards to learn about the four-point gospel message which describes the reason for Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. We also looked at how the Our Father prayer is one of the corner stones of prayer in our faith. The four-point gospel message shows what God has done for us through Jesus, while the Our Father is the prayer we use to gain a closer relationship with God. Next week the youth group will be having a movie night, so come along in comfy clothes and bring a packet of your favourite lollies along.

MORLEY

Last Friday we had an awesome time celebrating the end of the school term and finishing off our content about the New Testament. We started with some really fun card games, and a fast-paced round of frisbee! For our whole group games, we had a hilarious time involving all our speed and skill to reach a chair before the person in the middle stole it, which was called  ‘Kitty wants a chair’. We moved onto ‘People to People’, working in pairs to listen to the actions called out, but also find a new partner quickly so not to be the one left alone. Finally, we played a really competitive, team game of ultimate hangman, trying to be the ones that finished first, and guessing all the different words given by Roger, who we had to find hiding in the hall. Everyone did really well, and it was very close! All the words described Jesus, who taught, prophesised, performed miracles, and sacrificed His life so we could have eternal life, even though we all turn our back on God and sin at times in our lives. We finished with a word search race, which had all the characters we had been discussing in the term, and different symbols that related to them. We had 3 winners; congratulations to Simon, Rhys and Joe who were the fastest to finish, yell out ‘New Testament’, and run 3 times back and forth to win an awesome prize!

We prayed and then had a delicious meal provided by the Trans, and Marlene, thank you so much for the feast! We had a great time, and are looking forward to next week, and our combined event coming up! Please RSVP to Steph or Roger by the 10th of July about the combined event coming up on the 19th of July, 11am-8pm: Holiday event at Laser Corp, lifts will be provided by 24:7 Morley, travel permission slip will be provided, or message Steph or Roger for a slip. Meet at the parish hall at 11am for travel. After lunch and games at Laser Corp we will come back to Morley to make pizza and have a movie night! Bring $30 for all activities. Wear old enclosed shoes, long pants (not tights), clothes to get dirty, water bottle, money. Pyjamas or comfy clothes to change into after Laser Corps, snacks and pillows. See you there for some awesome fun!!

NEDLANDS

It was a quiet and chilled night to mark the end of the term. We had the freedom to choose from the different games on offer. We had Handball, a Wii, boardgames, mafia and even a chill chat space available. Many chose to spend time with each other and the leaders than to play on the Wii which was wonderful to see. The night was wonderful, and everyone had a great time growing in fellowship and friendship. Next week we have a special night planned which will allow the youth an opportunity to “Design a youth group session”.

OCEAN REEF

Ocean Reef will be wrapping up our term next Sunday by looking at the well-known, ‘wonderful phrase’, “Hakuna Matata”. We hope to see you and your friends, and even your friends of your friends there. You can also bring your friends along to The Lion King Movie event! It’s super important to remember to RSVP by the 15th of July so we can book you a ticket!

OSBORNE PARK

35 people joined us for the end of the school term, and we had a great time as we played Snap, Crackle, Pop and rounds of Bum Shuffle! Bringing out our energy we then moved that enthusiasm to hearing about who God is. We spoke about who God really is and who he can be in our life, watched a video and heard a story from a man who had an interesting encounter with the pope. We are excited for our next youth group session which is going to be a Dance Fiesta! So, get your dancing shoes ready and we’ll see you there!

SERVITE

What a term it’s been at 24:7 Serve and finishing it up with minute-to-win-it games was an absolute treat! Even though it was the last day of school, we still had 29 youth in attendance for our final youth group, where in teams everyone competed in a series of high-energy and hilarious games to see who would win the champion’s bag of M&Ms! Thank you so much to everyone who made it to youth group this term, and we’ll see you first week back of term 3. If you find yourself missing youth group, get on down to 24:7 Balcatta on Sunday nights (run by our very own Elysha Dalzell with Stephen Archer) or Osborne Park on Friday nights (led by Sam Borg and Jacinta Burns). They’re a great way to spend your school holidays! Finally, we’ll be launching into our Parish Connects on the first Sunday of term 1 (the 28th of July) at St. Denis! Look out for our trademark blend of fun, friendships and food!

SOUTH

Last week we enjoyed a Movie Hood Night! 16 guys and 18 gals got to watch a movie in their hoods along with supper and snacks. On the sisterhood side, the girls got to watch “the Princess Bride” for comedy, action, romance and old-style adventure! The brotherhood sat down to the superhero movie of “Spiderman: Homecoming” to stir their sense of heroism and growth! There was also some mingling around in the end as curiosity of the other movie playing infected some inquisitive minds. We have a Zone Bowling Mini Fun Pass session planned for the 10th of July, Wednesday over the holidays, so come join us at Zone Bowling in Rockingham at 1.30PM! You can also just join us for a game without the fun pass. See the flier for more details. The youth group continues over the holidays! This week we have a bit of craft and games night! If you need to work on a zombie or survivor shirt for the Glow in the Dark night the week after, bring it along! Otherwise come ready with board, card and device games to have some fun. The 19th of July will be our Glow in the Dark night so start stocking on your luminescent props as well as a zombie or survivor costume for its Zombie Apocalypse theme! (No weaponry props allowed!)

SUBIACO

Last week we had 18 come together and celebrate all those who had recently made their confirmation in the parish. We had a great time playing classic party game such as, Musical Chairs, Pass the Parcel and we even had a Pinata! There was also some hilarious fun involving marshmallows and doughnuts. We finished the night with pizza and ice-cream cake! This week we are having a fun night filled with surprises! On the 19th we are going to Laser Corp, please RSVP by Wednesday 17th if you would like to come along.
