Message from the Director

This weekend we welcome two new parishes on board the 24:7 Youth Ministry network of youth groups. St Francis Xavier, Armadale and Star of the Sea, Cottesloe will commence. Check out the information cards below for more details.

We also invite all readers to join our Prayer Campaign praying of all of our Youth groups, retreat teams, youth, leaders and youth ministers. To partake simply set an alarm for 24 minutes past 7 am and/or pm and pray an Our Father, speak the words in Jeremiah 24:7, conclude with the Glory Be while calling on the intercession of our Patron Saints, St John Paul II and Blessed Carlo Acutis. The more prayers shared the better it is for all involved in youth ministry.

Last Sunday 24:7 Applecross saw an awesome start to our year, with a games night! We started with Twister, ping pong, and other board games. After, our MC's, Daniel and Christina, started the night up with an exciting game of Death Potato, one of Applecross' favourite games! Death Potato saw everyone in a circle, walking around with their eyes closed aimlessly. If they bumped into someone, they said 'potato', and they stayed in the game. However, one 'death potato' was chosen, and if they bumped into them, they were out. We also played Spoons, with the aim of grabbing a spoon in the middle of the table once we had cards with the same number or letter. We then shared some delicious food as we had fellowship time with delicious fried rice, cake and lollies! See you at Youth Mass next Saturday, an awesome time to mingle, help out at Mass by altar serving, singing, or helping with collecting! There'll be a soccer game afterwards, so bring a plate of food to share!

On Sunday night, we had our first week back at 24:7 Balcatta, and what a night it was! We started the night meeting our new youth minister Jennifer, who told us a bit about herself. We then went and played Wall tag, before moving to Bang, two awesome icebreakers to help everyone settle back in. We then sat down for dinner, before something very unexpected happened. Our power went out! So we finished dinner in darkness before people started telling scary stories and some boys started playing soccer in the dark! It was a night to remember! This coming weekend we are rewriting the youth group prayer, so be sure not to miss out!

On Sunday we had a games night to start of the year at 24:7 Ballajura! We had so much fun playing board games, mafia and red light green light. After we played games we had so much food including hot chips and icy poles! It was so much fun and a great way to start off the year after such a long break. Our next youth group will be in two weeks on the 20th of February where we will start breaking open our term theme, the sacraments. We will be looking at what the sacraments are and why they are important in our lives.

This past week we had our first youth group of the year at 24:7 Bassendean! The night began with a few short introductions and then we jumped straight into our first game, 'Golden Child.' This was a competitive game where the leaders went head to head with the young people to battle for the winning title. It was a very heated and intense game but fortunately for the youth, they took the victory and started the year off with a bang! We then headed back indoors to play our second game called, 'The Name Game' and can I just say it was a real hit. This game is a mixture of the game Chasey and Ninja and it required everybody to be quick on their feet and to stay alert, there were no winners only survivors. The final game that we played was an old favourite called 'Octopus', where players try to avoid being tagged by the octopus whilst running for their lives to the safe zone! It was an intense game to watch and definitely had us all on the edge of our seats. We then headed into everyone's favourite part of the evening, dinner. There was an assortment of yummy treats on offer which may or may not have included some candy. We then had to say goodbye and goodnight to our young people as the night came to an end!

Last week at 24:7 Floreat we started off the year on a good note with a night for fellowship, getting to know each other a little better and of course lots of competitive games to stir up some banter. Next week we are going to be having our annual water fight, an opportunity for our young people to show off their water warfare and some healthy banter with each other. As well as this we will be opening up our term theme: “Stirring up the Status Quo”. It will focus on who Jesus was, what He taught and how He stirred societies status quo in that time and even our own time.

Last week was a great start to youth group for the year. We had a lot of fun catching up and hanging out with our friends. There ended up being a power outage, but that didn't stop us from heading onto the courts playing an intense game of octopus and challenge our acting abilities with a good old classic game of charades. Next week we have another great night planned, so come along for fun, games, food and lots more in store!

Last week at 24:7 Nedlands we had 17 young people attend our Games Night! We started the night introducing our new Youth Minister before breaking the ice with the Name Game. This was followed by a high energy rounds of Chuck the Chicken and ended with an epic game of Dodgeball. We ended our night in fellowship by sharing a meal with each other and playing another round of the Name Game. Next week, we will be starting our term by watching Narnia, followed by a series of talks on virtues such as love, trust, forgiveness, hope and much more!

Last week at Osborne Park youth group we had a fantastic way to celebrate the return of youth group. We did this in the form of a games night! We played mafia, which encourages all those playing, to work together and form alliances with those they might not normally spend time with. There were a few shocks and twists keeping us all on our toes! We then played run the gauntlet, a game where we had to dodge water balloons and make it across the car park without getting hit. The night was an awesome experience and a whole lot of fun! Please join us this week as we begin to look at our new term theme! Don’t miss out!

And we are BACK! A huge adrenaline-filled first night back at 24:7 South! It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces return and get involved with the fun. There is nothing better than an awesome games night full of South fan-favourites. From the classic Dodgeball battlefield to the blazing Golden Child. We even shaped up as we brought back a funny little game called Formations! It was also brilliant night to welcome along our two brand new, home-grown Youth Ministers, Jerome and Bella, who gave a small teaser into this term's topic of "Discipleship". We look forward to breaking open this exciting theme a little bit more, as we return to Kolbe this week for more fun, faith, and fabulous people!!

We welcomed 40 young people and leaders to youth group last week, kicking off with one of 24:7 Whitfords most loved games, the Name Game! From there we moved into red light green light, which one of our amazing youth ministers ran. Then to finish off, we ended with one of the most hectic games, Death Ball! There was so much chaos mixed with lots of laughs and fun. We introduced the term theme straight after the game which is: Guardian Angels! We will be discussing this topic throughout this term, getting to know the things that we can't see with our eyes! Next youth group we will have an awesome speaker to come in and hit us off with this theme. There is going to be so many games, LOTS OF DELICIOUS FOOD and many friendly faces. Hope to see you next youth group in a couple of weeks time!
