Message from the Director

It has been a week of big events.

I was privileged enough to present a keynote presentation at the Ignite Conference, Sydney held last weekend. This was a conference with close to 1000 young participants.

I then popped in to the amazing iStand Camp run by our partners, the Youth Mission Team, held earlier this week in Perth with close to 70 young people spending several days together.

It is amazing to see so many young Catholics being catered for in our church through events such as these. However, as exciting as these events are, for the young people present, it is just as important to have a home that they belong to each week. It is here that seeds of excitement turn into the fruit of holiness.

The value of youth groups cannot be overstated! It is an essential ingredient in the journey of discipleship. Having people around to support, encourage and challenge us in our lives is critical in the pursuit of seeking to live for God full on, full time, all the time.

Let us continue to pray for the incredible work of each of our local youth groups, that they may continue to be the garden bed that produces the fruits of Sainthood for the generations to come.

Last week at Applecross youth group we had an awesome night staying cosy in the weather together. We spent the night playing board games, sharing in activities, some nachos and great chats. It was a great way to celebrate the holidays together.

games night! It was an awesome evening that involved playing many fun and enjoyable games, hanging out with quality people and having great conversations. The night was a lot of fun and also gave us all the opportunity to build relationships, share in life together and build memories. A great night was had by all!

We had an exciting night at 24:7 Ballajura last week with a "real-life board games" night! We took four classic board games, snakes and ladders, tic tac toe, Cluedo, and battleship and turned them into giant human versions! We had so much fun solving crimes, playing snakes and ladders and so much more! So much fun and such a great way to celebrate the holidays together!

Last week at Cottesloe youth group we had a pyjama party night! We had an awesome bunch of youth join us to celebrate the holidays and have a relaxing night together. We played a bunch of games; sleeping lions and commando and had so much fun together.

At 24:7 Greenwood youth group last week we had a games night for the youth to enjoy over the holiday period. It was a big night with a huge cohort of youth joining us to play some fun games. It was especially exciting to see some new faces; friends and cousins of the youth! We played a youth group favourite: continuous dodgeball, which was a hit! We also played Blindman’s Bluff, as well as a name guessing game which was good for the youth to get to know each other better. We finished the night with warm food and fellowship, as well as ice-cream which a youth’s family kindly donated!

Last week at youth group we had our end of term Quiz night fundraiser! We had an excellent turnout for this event, including several people from the community who came along to help support the youth group! The quiz was extremely fun and challenging, and the energy was high! We had sections on general knowledge, the parables, pop culture, and music! Congratulations to team 'Game Runners' on their first place result, and we look forward to the next exciting Quiz Night!

Last youth group we had an awesome Games Night to kick off the Holidays! On Friday night we had so many young people join us; all coming together for a night of relational time over some super fun games. We began the night with some soccer and uno, welcoming new people to the youth group with a fun Q&A about who they are to get to know them. We then played a very high energy game of ultimate frisbee before jumping straight into our next game, pool noodle hockey getting very competitive with our skills. A quick drink break then into a new spin on bopper, and lastly a speed round of crossing the river, each team working their fastest to get to the other sides quickest. Finally, we finished with the YMT talking to us about the upcoming iStand and some yummy food over good chats.

We really do love the holidays here at 24:7 Rockingham! Last week we had a tonne of fun playing some classic games including Dragon Chain, The Name Game and NINJA! It was a great way to kick back and simply enjoy each other's company during the holidays!

Last week 24:7 Whitfords & 24:7 Woodvale youth groups had an awesome night as we had our combined event. The night was themed asking everyone to dress as their favourite movie character. All the youth got involved in the fun with their costumes! We started the night with some games beginning with Bopper which is like chasey but with pool noodles. We then played “Zombie” and then “Honey I Love You.” We then had a cat walk for everyone to show off their costume. One of the students who was dressed up as Snow White won best dressed. We then had fellowship time to close up the night. Over all it was an amazing night!
