Purpose

To provide Catholic Colleges with qualified Youth Ministers to work within the Campus Ministry Faculty, providing opportunities and structures supporting the faith development students.

Youth Minister’s Role

Inherent in the role of Youth Minister is the desire and willingness to respectfully build relationships with teenagers. At the heart of these relationships is the openness of the youth minister to share their faith journey and experiences and to companion the teenager as they develop and mature in theirs. The youth minister will work to create an environment and develop activities that attract and inspire teenagers to grow in their spiritual identity and understanding of faith in an atmosphere that is safe, transparent and non coercive. The youth minister will contribute to a range of experiences in prayer, liturgy, service, justice, and sacramental preparation that will assist a young person to grow in their relationship with God and put their faith into practice.

Youth Minister Duties

• Prepare and conduct before / after and lunchtime school youth ministry activities.

• Be available to students at recess and in a designated area as needed during the day.

• Maintain a designated space as a faith focused and youth friendly room.

• Be involved in the Social Justice program

• Assist with school liturgies and retreats where needed.

• Develop and maintain youth ministry resources as needed.

• Assist with sacramental preparation as needed.

• Assist with running of the Seasons For Growth Program.

• Assist in training students to participate and fulfil roles in liturgies.

• Source out Catholic youth events that would contribute to faith development of students

• Qualified and experienced Youth Minister

• Development of Youth Minister’s role based on College feedback

• End of term reporting on key performance indicators, achievements & timesheets

• Professional Development programme for Youth Ministers

• Pastoral Care of Youth Minister

• Provision of 4 retreat experiences for Youth Minister and students

• Youth Minister’s Network

24:7 Youth Ministry Service Cost

$25 per hour. This includes payment of salary to the Youth Minister, superannuation, insurance, sick leave, & service fee.

Youth Minister’s Role

Inherent in the role of Youth Minister is the desire and willingness to respectfully build relationships with teenagers. At the heart of these relationships is the openness of the youth minister to share their faith journey and experiences and to companion the teenager as they develop and mature in theirs. The youth minister will work to create an environment and develop activities that attract and inspire teenagers to grow in their spiritual identity and understanding of faith in an atmosphere that is safe, transparent and non coercive. The youth minister will establish a teenage youth group providing a range of experiences that will assist a young person to grow in their relationship with God and put their faith into practice.

Youth Minister Duties

• Prepare and conduct a weekly teenage youth group.

• Represent the youth group within the parish context.

• Provide activities to enhance youth fellowship.

• Develop and maintain youth ministry resources as needed.

• Encourage the youth to participate and fulfil roles in liturgies.

• Source out Catholic youth events that would contribute to the

faith development of students

• 16 hours per week employment.
